Privacy policy

Depending on the features you use, we may process:

• Account information: name, email address, authentication provider, user identifier, and account preferences.
• Study content: prompts, notes, PDFs, images, audio, questions, generated study material, and files you choose to upload.
• Usage and technical data: feature interactions, browser and device details, IP address, timestamps, diagnostics, crash reports, and security logs.
• Mobile app data: device and app identifiers, app version, push notification tokens, install attribution, and, only if you allow it on iOS, the advertising identifier.
• Subscription data: plan, product identifier, subscription status, renewal and expiry dates, and transaction references supplied by our billing providers.
• Support communications: messages and information you send when you ask us for help or exercise a privacy right.

We process information to:

• create and authenticate your account;
• provide the study features and generate the content you request;
• store, organise, sync, and retrieve material in your private workspace;
• manage subscriptions, entitlements, limits, and customer support;
• protect Ozard from abuse, fraud, unauthorised access, and security incidents;
• measure reliability and understand how features can be improved; and
• meet legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations.

Where applicable, our legal bases include performing our contract with you, complying with law, protecting our legitimate interests in operating a secure service, and consent where the law requires it.

Ozard relies on specialised service providers to operate its infrastructure, authentication, AI features, analytics, communications, and billing. These may include providers such as Firebase, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, Fly.io, OpenAI, Mixpanel, Sentry, AppsFlyer, Meta, RevenueCat, Apple, Google Play, Polar, and LiveKit, depending on the feature and device you use.

We share only the information reasonably needed for a provider to perform its service and require providers to handle it under applicable contractual and security obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a corporate transaction subject to appropriate safeguards.

In the iOS and Android apps, Apple or Google processes your payment, and RevenueCat helps us manage the resulting subscription entitlements. Polar acts as merchant of record for Polar checkout transactions on the web. Polar collects and processes payment details, billing information, tax information, receipts, and refund requests under its own terms and privacy notice. Ozard receives subscription and transaction status but does not receive or store your full payment-card number. Apple and Google likewise handle app-store payment details under their own terms.

The Ozard app asks for device permissions only when a feature needs them, and each one is optional:

• Camera and photo library: to photograph or pick a question or document you want help with, and to save a solved question to your photos when you ask.
• Microphone: to let you speak to Ozard. Audio is processed to produce your message or the voice conversation you start.
• Notifications: to send study reminders and updates about your content.

You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. Ozard does not access your camera, microphone, or photos in the background.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views, referring sites, browser and device categories, and page performance on ozard.ai. This measurement does not use cookies or local storage and does not collect the contents of your forms or study materials. The analytics beacon removes query strings and URL fragments from page URLs.

We use cookies and similar local-storage technologies that are necessary for sign-in, security, preferences, and core product functionality. Where configured, analytics helps us understand feature usage and diagnose reliability problems. You can control non-essential browser storage through your browser settings, though blocking required storage may prevent parts of Ozard from working.

In the mobile apps, Mixpanel measures feature usage and may record session replays of a sample of app sessions, with text and images masked, so we can find and fix usability problems. Sentry receives crash and error reports. AppsFlyer and Meta help us understand which campaigns lead to installs and subscriptions. On iOS, we use the advertising identifier for this only if you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can change that choice in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. We do not sell your personal information.

We keep account and study information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service. We may retain limited records after account closure where reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, backup integrity, fraud prevention, or legal and financial obligations. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app or from your account page on the web. Deletion removes your account and study content from Ozard. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it in your store account settings to stop future charges.

We use administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit where supported. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect your account credentials and avoid uploading information you do not need Ozard to process.

Some providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use recognised transfer mechanisms and contractual protections. Local law may also provide specific rights relating to international transfers.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.

Ozard is designed for students, but it is not intended to be used without any consent or authorisation required by local law. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information without the required permission, contact us so we can review and address the request.
